How Our Service Works

Supporting Seniors is a trusted resource for seniors and their families looking for the right Retirement Residence. Our process is straightforward: we support our clients every step of the way, with expert advice, dedication and compassion.

1- Getting To Know You

When it comes to getting to know our clients, we like to do it the old-fashioned way – in person! We feel that this meeting is the key to successfully finding you the right residence. That’s why we’ll be sure to accommodate you in every way possible:

  • Evenings, Weekends, & Holidays.
    If you have an urgent request, your family has a busy schedule or they’re from out of town, we’ll do our very best to meet at the most convenient time for everyone involved, no matter what time or day it may be!
  • Home or Hospital.
    We call them “Home Visits,” but if you’re in the hospital, we can meet with you there.
  • Your Time is Valuable
    While we will never impose time limits on our meetings with you, we understand that appointments and health issues may limit your availability. We will do our very best to meet these needs by being flexible, taking breaks, and working with you in person, on the phone, or through email as needed.

During the Home Visit, we will take our time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions and discuss your situation. Once we have determined your likes, dislikes, wants and needs, we can begin to narrow down the list of possible Residences to a manageable number.

2- Reviewing Potential Residences

Together, we’ll review your options, compare Residences and begin to narrow down your selection. We’ve made the comparison process easy by creating Retirement Residence Profiles. And, because we personally visit each Residence, we can also give you our first-hand impression! Some of the things we will discuss include:

  • Pricing
  • Levels of care and types of care plans
  • The services, accommodations and amenities available

3- Touring The Residences
Once you have narrowed down your selection, (typically 2–3 residences) we can begin arranging the tours! We’ll coordinate with the residences and book the tours. If necessary, we can also assist in making arrangements for transportation to the Residences.

While we do not insist that your Supporting Seniors Advisor accompany you the on tours, we do encourage clients to take full advantage of the service and their Advisor’s support. Having your Advisor join you for the tour has many benefits:

  • Note-Taking & Pictures
    During the tour, we take notes specific to your situation, based on your questions and concerns. We record the fun and interesting details we uncover, and we take pictures through out the building, including the available suites (rooms) you are shown.
  • Important Questions
    Sometimes there’s so much information to take in all at once, it can be easy to forget one of the questions you wanted to ask. We’ll make sure all of your concerns are addressed and interests are discussed.
  • Expertise & Support
    Our Advisors are experts in Seniors Services and can offer valuable insight throughout the entire process (learn more about our qualifications by going to our About Us  page).

Most importantly, we’re there to support you and make sure your needs are the number one priority!

4- Making Your Decision

Finally, it comes down to the big decision! Will it be Residence A, with the bright and sunny suite overlooking the garden and walking trail, or Residence B, the place with all of the amenities on your wish list, including an indoor pool! Wait, which one has the fireside lounge you really liked?

The more Residences you see, the more often their details tend to blur together. Even though we keep that number low by narrowing it down first, even two residences can easily be mixed up. Thankfully, we understand this, so in order to keep things simple and easy for you, we organize all of the notes and pictures we took during the tours and create your personalized report! Now you can easily reflect on and compare one Residence to another, based on your personal tour!

We want you to feel confident in your decision, so we’ll make sure you have all of the information, support and guidance you need to make the best decision for you!

5- Continued Support

Our support does not end once you’ve chosen a residence! We work with several reputable, trusted senior’s agencies that we would happily connect you with.

So, if you’d like home support until your move, such as housecleaning, help with packing and setting up movers, getting your house and yard ready for sale, or contacts for specific professionals, let us know and we will connect you with the right service. We want to make sure the process goes as smoothly as possible for you!

Our number one priority is always our clients, so getting feedback from those that we’ve helped is essential for us to continue providing supportive, quality assistance. So, once you have settled into your new residence, we’ll follow up to make sure that everything is going well for you.
